The following is taken from a guy called Danny, who posts on the Here Today... Gone To Hell Message Board. I have no idea how reliable this guy is, but it sure sounds interesting.
OK kids...here is what I know for sure about this matter...We will definately be seeing a GNR single released on or before October 15th (of this year). Unfortunately, my source is unable to confirm what song (or songs) it will be, but that is a DEFINATE date!
Speculation in my (secret) circle is that the "single" will be titled "Catcher in the Rye" and feature that as it's main song (Track 1). The 3 remaining tracks are allegedly all going to be live tracks. Track 2: "Welcome to the Jungle" (from an as of yet unknown concert). Track 3: "Madagascar" (also not known what show). And Track 4: WTTJ/M/PC medly from the MTV awards (possibly tweeked up a bit for quality reasons. The thought (hope) behind releasing this is that rock radio stations will not only play CITR as a single on a regular basis, but also the live "Madagascar", thus essentially doubling the exposure of new GNR material for promotion of the new album. This is to be in conguncture with the release of a new video for GNR's "Catcher in the Rye" and it's "garunteed" airplay on MTV and MTV2.
Personally, I think this ploy is absolute genius and should work.

Danny is pretty reliable on his facts. Here's another post of his -
I am hearing a buzz in my circle that there are currently talks between Guns N' Roses management and World Wrestling Entertainment officials for a GNR appearance (presumedly) on the WWE's signature weekly TNN cable program, WWE RAW. Assumedly, the band would be performing on the show which has become fairly common over the years for a number of different bands (Motorhead, Rob Zombie, Motley Crue). It is thought that this move could be benificial to both parties as GNR's performance at the MTV Awards this year helped it garner unprecedented ratings. WWE Raw has been experiencing a slump in it's once "unstoppable" ratings lately and GNR performing on the show could help in WWE's long-term plan to start a "bounce-back" to ratings glory. For GNR, an appearance on the show would provide much-desired publicity for the one age group that Interscope fears it will not reach in promoting the new album...teenage boys.

Ok the single will not be Catcher in the Rye if my sources are true.
Apprently GNR has three albums ready to go.... one after the other.
Catcher in the Rye will not even be on the first album according to my sources (Jarmo ;D)

I never thought of that. To have Guns N' Roses go on WWF. That would help. They should also go on the late night talk shows and Saturday Night Live. Even MTV TRL once the album is about to could out and they have a video.
