My Granny, Delma Smith passed in her sleep in Saint Francisville, Louisiana a few hours ago. She was 89 years old, would've been 90 next month, and a better woman never lived. She taught me so much I can't even begin to tell you, she loved me without judgement all my life, prayed for me, laughed with me...in the 70's when I was learning to play guitar and growing my hair, smoking weed and generally being a typical dumb teenager, I would visit her in Long Beach Mississippi and never get a judgemental word. Just unconditional love. I thank God in Heaven I went to Saint Francisville last weekend, I got to hug my Granny's neck, kiss her and tell her how much I love her. Y'all please pray for her, and pray for my family. We will all miss her terribly. We all loved her with all our hearts, and although we know she's in a better place with Grandaddy and all her brothers and sisters, it's awfully hard to let go. I love you Granny, be with God, be at peace.

My condolences on your loss. You are fortunate you got to see her last weekend. She sounds like she was a wonderful person.

Hi Doc, I am so very sorry to hear of you loss. She sounds like she was a great lady. There aren't many people who love us and touch our lives like that. As you know from my page, I was very close to my grandmom too. I can totally relate. I will certainly keep you and your family in my prayers.
