Bad Trip Ahead for Dutch Joint Joints
AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - Dutch "coffee shops" famous for selling cannabis are about to see business go up in smoke.
Officials have just put the finishing touches to a measure banning smoking in cannabis-selling cafes. Due to get government approval soon, the law aims to protect employees of all companies from passive smoking.
"Any coffee shop that has employees will be affected too," said Trudy Prins, director of Dutch anti-smoking group Stivoro.
Although cannabis is formally illegal in the Netherlands, its use and sale are tolerated under strict government conditions. Coffee shops, where customers can buy a small amount of cannabis without fear of arrest, are a major tourist draw.
Coffee shop owners were aghast. "The whole point of going to a coffee shop is to smoke," said Arjan Roskam, chairman of the Union for Cannabis Retailers.
The Netherlands boasts around 800 cannabis cafes. Smoking a joint in an Amsterdam coffee shop vies with canal boat tours and trips to the flower market for a place on tourists' itineraries.

I think it's kinda sad that Amsterdam is mostly known as the city with all the coffee shops..... I had a great time there and I didn't even visit any coffee shops.  /jarmo |

Hey leave my milk thistle outta this... Oh that's right. I forgot. You said we aren't supposed to SMOKE the milk thistle. We're supposed to grind it into a powder and SNORT IT!!!Do the Dutch even have milk-thistle? I know they have it in Finland & Sweden. Anything that they think is even remotely connected to their beloved COWS they're gonna try!!! |

You see Mr. "I'm from Finland but now I live in Sweden" - in the rest of the world, when a farmer gets "hands-on" with a cow, it's to extract the milk from the cow. Unlike the Finn farmer who gets "hands-on" with a cow for his own personal pleasure! I heard a rumor that after they "do it" instead of smokings a cigarette, the Finns smoke "milk-thistle" |

Hummm, how can I explain it? You see Mr. "I'm from Finland but now I live in Sweden" - in the rest of the world, when a farmer gets "hands-on" with a cow, it's to extract the milk from the cow. Unlike the Finn farmer who gets "hands-on" with a cow for his own personal pleasure! I heard a rumor that after they "do it" instead of smokings a cigarette, the Finns smoke "milk-thistle" Have you actually been to Finland and seen that happening? /jarmo |

I saw that cow after he left! Who you callin' a cow!!!  Kiki, because of you I stayed up almost all night looking for damn cow pictures. I now know more about cows than any human being needs to know So I'm ending this "FinnFarmer  Cow" thing right here and now!!! I know Jarmo is gonna beg me to continue but my answer is NO!!!  I'm gonna have cow nightmares for a week. Now I'm gonna go smoke some cannabis milk thistle ;D |
