The stupid hurricane is headed straight for Louisiana unless it changes course. I live in the central part of the state so we usually just get rain from the storms but I have lived here most all my life and sometimes we will get substantial damage if the storm manages to hold on to a good portion of strength after making landfall. Lili is expected to make landfall Thursday night so if no one sees me around on Friday or Saturday then there is a good chance I have lost my electricty. If we get a lot of rain off this storm there is also a good chance that part of my house will flood. I am hoping that once Lili hits land it will knock a lot of her strength out. I hate hurricanes.

The last storm didn't do much here but this storm is heading right for us. I am in the central part of the state and schools have been closed for tomorrow. We are told to expect 50-60 mph winds and heavy rain. Usually I am far enough north not to get high wind, but this bitch is 140 mph now and will probably pick up more speed before landfall. I have been outside this afternoon trying to secure things. I will let you know how it goes if I still have electricty tomorrow which is highly doubtful because this area has large amounts of trees and the limbs always break and take the power lines with them.

Ok, I will try to call. First thing I have to do in the morning is try to find some sandbags to help prevent flooding in parts of my house. I will contact you as soon as I can.

Did you know that Louisiana is full of dumbasses? Get this, I called the Diaster Preparedness Center last night trying to get sandbags. This is how the conversation went: Me: I greet the person and then inquire about the sandbags that the local media is announcing that this center is giving away. Dumbass: Do you have flooding in your house a this time? Me: No, but with an expected 5-10 inches of rain I will have water in my house. Dumbass: Sandbags are very important to us and we will not be giving any away until you actually have water coming into your house. Me: What!?! Dumbass: When you house starts flooding you can then come and get some sandbags. Areas that normally flood may not flood this time. Me: Ok, let me see if I understand you correctly. I can't have any sandbags even though my house has been known to experience flooding in the past. I have to wait until the water starts coming into my house, then I get in my car, even though the police will be advising people not to get on the streets and highways with 50-60 mph winds, in a pouring hurricane and drive across town to get sandbags? So how does this stop my house from flooding? Exactly what is the purpose of the Diaster Preparedness Center? Last time I checked prepare meant to take steps to prevent or get ready for a situation. Dumbass: Ma'am, maybe if you house starts flooding you could contact you local fire department to inquire if they could help. Me: The fire dept.? I said my house was going to flood not catch on fire!! Dumbass: Call local authorities if flooding occurs. Me: Yeah, so local authorities can ask me why I didn't take proper precautions before the storm. Yeah, right. I would like to thank you for all your help but since you have just left me angry and frustrated then never mind. Me: Hung up on the dumbass! Can you believe? I talked to Ron on the phone afterwards and he asked if I had secured everything and if I had gotten sandbags. I laughed and said the outside is as secure as I can make it but then I told him about the sandbag situation. I told him I am ready to move to Texas because Louisiana is full of dumbasses! I understand why most of the United States thinks people from Louisiana are dumbasses. *screams!!!!*

Aww shucks! ;D My southern drawl is cute? Ok, Lili has come and gone but the bitch left shit every where! I was out of electricty from early afternoon until just a little while ago. My house suffered some mild flooding but if it hadn't been for the sandbags that I got some place else before the storm hit the flooding would have been bad. Many people will be without electricty for a few more days. I am lucky. I did have to unpack my hurricane lamps and fuel before nightfall. We are ok, but there is a mess outside to clean up. Good chatting with you GA! ;D
