I will keep ya posted...I'd be very surprised if anything happened before early 2009 by the time all the business crap gets properly dealt with, but ya never know...Hell I'm glad there's business crap that needs to be dealt with in the first place

Tomorrow night at Dave's Aqua Lounge in St Petersburg, we play support for the Black Diamond Heavies...gonna be a bunch of fun I believe. Then Saturday we're back at Dave's opening for south Florida outlaw country legend Charlie Pickett.January 24th we're in Sarasota, and the 25th we go to Daytona Beach. We're getting our ducks in a row, a deal with True North Records is in place to release Let's Get Lit with the Mojo Gurus next March, with a three week tour starting March 14th, heading from here over to Austin for SXSW, then up through the midwest, crossing into Ontario for 5 Canadian dates, then down the East Coast...the fun begins
P.S. Philly was mentioned, I will keep ya posted.

I gotta tell ya, last week was truly one of the best weeks I can remember ever having...Tuesday night was the Black Diamond Heavies/Mojo Gurus/Beauvilles show at Dave's Aqua Lounge, and what a show it was! The Beauvilles played a blistering set (as they always do), setting the tone for a rockin' good time. Then I got to play a set with the Gurus, which I absolutely love. Kevin Steele writes great rock and roll songs that are exactly what I love to play, and what a time I have on stage with Vinnie Granese and Mark Busto as a rhythm section and Kevin out front...this is the band I've been looking for since I first picked up a guitar, and it's a joy every time we play. The the Black Diamond Heavies took the stage, and rocked the fuckin' house...if you like the rock and roll and haven't heard these guys, look 'em up, give 'em a listen. Great band. Thursday night my old pal Papa Mali blew through town, playing the Tamiami Bar in St Pete. Papa's a Louisiana cat, with that swampy voodoo vibe that can only be New Orleans. I had the pleasure of opening for him several years ago when I was leading the Blues Punks, and although there were less than two dozen people in attendance the night was a definite musical highlight. Being that New Orleans was my home throughout my formative years, that groove is in my soul...the Meters, Dr John, the Neville Brothers, that stuff just moves me, and Papa Mali is right up there...in a just world the guy would be headlining for thousands. As it stands maybe two dozen folks were there, and Papa played as if he was in a full arena. Another great evening of truly great music. Then came Saturday, Charlie Pickett/the Mojo Gurus/Kevin K at Dave's Aqua Lounge...oh what fun we had. Kevin K threw down a killer set of rock and roll music to get the proceedings underway, this is the second time we've had Kevin on the bill with us and I hope it ain't the last...a real sweetheart of a cat, with a batch a kickass rockin' tunes. We were up next, and see paragraph one lol, I love my band, and I love playing rock and roll with 'em. When I got off stage I heard from a couple guys that Charlie had had some really nice things to say about the Gurus, and my playing in particular, which is an honor coming from somebody with his pedigree. Charlie took the stage and was throwing down some killer stuff, and a couple songs in they broke into Waiting For The Man by the Velvet Underground. I walked up close to the stage to raise my beer in honor, and Charlie whipped off his guitar and handed it to me!!! I was blown away, what's a guy to do, but jump up and jam...I thought it was really cool, one of the highlights of my career to date. At the end of their set, Charlie leaned over and told me "my guitar's in open G, I'm gonna hand it to ya halfway through this tune" just before they busted out with Phantom Train (see Charlie's myspace, that song's on there)...he did, handing me his axe and his slide so I slid my way around the tune...I still feel pretty honored that he invited me up, I truly enjoyed it and I hope that Charlie and I get to work together again some day. Maybe he'll ask me play some guitar on his next record or something. All in all it was a Hell of great week musically speaking, I got to play two shows with the Gurus, and I got to see five other cool bands play, I got to jam with Charlie Pickett...what a great time I had.
